Having been advised not to use the type of storm strap that goes over the awning and could therefore damage the waterproof coating. Has anyone used the tie down kits as available from ebay :

or the straps available from Screwfix:

yes david, every time the full awning goes up and it doesn't make the awning leak well mine never has anyway.

oh B.T.W. a little tip if you do use one and it's a bit windy(the reason for having a storm strap) they tend to flap a bit against the canvas and poles dead annoying just put 1/2 a turn in the strap each side as it goes over the awning and it won't flap and keepyou up all night.

I always put washing spunges under the strap where it goes over the foof supporting poles. These stop the strap chafing against the canvas

Hi

I found the best thing to do is to use a strip if pipe insulation under each corner. As it is already cut, with the hole in the middle, it sits on the corner superbly, doesn't work its way off and certainly stops the strap from wearing the fabric of the awning.
