I was just wondering how everyone else manages with there awning we are new to this and decided to put our awning up for the 1st time yesterday. But we struggled to thread it through and to reach the poles as we are both short, even standing on the caravan step, was no good, so in the end we had to use step ladders, but these are a bit bulky to take away with us, wondering how every one else manages.

thanks in advance

Hi Tracey,

We've got an awning but haven't been out with it yet, so we have those joys to come!

I was going to take aluminium step ladders with us as they're light and you can lay them on the van floor during travelling, leave them in the awning when you're set up.

If I'm missing anything, I'm sure someone will tell us!

Cheers,

Gary

You can buy an awning-puller. Its basically a longish metal hook that you connect to your awning and you can then pull it along the awning rail. They are a not too expensive, here is a link to one on ebay so you can see what they look like http://tinyurl.com/57qt4p
