Awnings? Is there any substitute for Isabella?

Hi,

Just bought our new 'van. Is there an equal substitute for an Isabella awning? We previously had an Isabella Capri Lux on our 'van, and although it is an entry level awning, it has been absoulutely perfect. We would have no trouble replacing it with another Isabella, but the prices are very high in relation. I have heard that the NR range are quite good. Your thoughts?

Thanks.

When we bought a new van we needed to sell our Isabella Awning and get a new one. It was a fews years old but was a super awning, very well made, so no complaints at all other than what it was going to cost us to replace it with a new one.

The dealer who sold us the van had an offer on Trio awnings, these came in at half the price of the Isabella and it has turned out to be an excellent buy. It has been in use regularly for 7 years, including long stays in Spain and it has stood up very well with no colour fading. Ours is a Trio Mexico Family 950. We changed our van in 2005 and for

Hi

We are Ventura fans, we have sold our Isabella full awning, and Isabella porch, both via ebay, and now use a Ventura awning that fits 3/4 of the caravan, the Ventura is a lighter weight, and does not have all of the features of the Isabella, ie the round window in the door, or the extra tie down points, but we have used ours all year round, and had no problems, it has the Fibreglass poles same as Isabella, and all the instructions are from Isabella, the saving is in price and weight. Our current Ventura cost less less than 1/2 price on ebay and was brand new still in the box. We still have our previous Ventura which is too small for us to use on our current van , and will be advertising it on e bay in the spring.

Hi Beemermal,

I would be interested to know who modified your awning. We have a Trio Mexico 875 and need something closer to your size. Was it a complete success?

John...The company is called Trio Pair, based in Pontifract, Tel: 01977 708688,

Web: www.triopair.com or

email: info@triopair.com

They did a super job and the awning was back within 10 day of us posting it off. They used matching fabrics from Trio that were the correct ones, all double stiched.

(they also extend the skirt but we did'nt need ours extending)

Just to explain what is done, The front and sides of the awning remain as originally built. So there are no changes to the removable panels. What Trio Pair do is add up to half a metre to each side of the main awning, at the caravan side. The panels they insert taper down from the caravan like a wedge towards the front.

We were very impressed with the work and it was certainly cheaper than trying to sell a secondhand awning and then buying new again. Give them a call they were very helpful.

BeemerMal - Thanks very much for your reply. I will pursue this with Trio Pair.

Awnings? Is there any substitute for Isabella?

Quite simply - No.

Mind you at present we have a Larsen which is great but not Isabella. Have fitted some Isabella "bits" though.

Hi David, I've had an Isabella Magnum (porch) Awning for 3 years and have tried other brand full awnings out and would have to say that Isabella quality is best. Just bought a brand new 2006 model Isabella Capri Lux (950) from Michael Jordan Caravans for

I nearly purchased a 2006 Isabella Capri Lux *Special Offer* but after reading praise about the Ventura Atlantic we purchased a 2006 model with fibre frame for
