Awnings

Hi,

Newbie here,

Recently bought a 1997 Eldiss Genisis 3 which is in great condition for it's age but the Milano awning it came with is a little tired.

Could somebody please explain how you determine what size awning a caravan will accept? Any information relating to makers ofgood quality awnings would also be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Mick.

Hello mick. Wecolme to our wonderful world. Measure your van from ground to ground around the awning channel, making sure that the van is level, on level ground. This will give you a length in milimetres, which is the size awning you require. Purely personal, I would recommend Bradcot, and avoid Dorema. Now someone will post to avoid Bradcot, and recommend Dorema, but it's very much a personal choice. Choose carefully though. I let my heart rule my head when I bought my Dorema, and have regreted it ever since.

Another question if I may,

We have only put the awning up once so far, at the bottom of the awning there is a 12" strip below the elastic pegging points, should this be bent outwards or under the ground sheet?

Thanks,

Mick.
