Hi Michael,
We bought our first caravan earlier this year and persuaded the dealer (Somerset Caravans - very pleasant and helpful) to throw in a new Sunncamp Mirage awning with two annexes.
I believe Sunncamp are towards the "budget" end of the awning market but we have been very satisfied with ours. The poles are steel and, therefore, heavy - but, as such, are reassuringly strong and stable in stormy weather.
We have subsequently bought a porch awning (Apache - simply because it was the only one we saw at the size we wanted) as the full awning is a bit of a rigmarole to put up if just the two of us go away for a weekend. We use the big one if we go away for a week or more and take the kids.
The dealer advised us that our awning was fine for the use we intended, and should last for years, but, if we wanted an awning to leave up on a seasonal pitch then we might want to consider spending a bit more.
I suppose a pricier awning might be a bit easier to put up - but, to be honest, I can't see how it could be a LOT easier, and it will possibly last a bit longer but, frankly, we've been very happy with our awning and really can't see how it could do the job any better.
So, my advice - get a cheap one and try it for a few years. If you use it so much that it wears out - get an expensive one.
Hope this helps.
