Hi Marcus,it's a very good site, not like other CC sites as the grass is a little bit longer. the pitches not so regimented, in fact some are quite close together, but not a problem.Obviously there are no toilet blocks but there are plenty of waste points so never to far away. Also a van arrives every morning for papers, milk etc.

The access roads are very narrow in places but as you can see from picture 1 we got our "little" outfit in ;O). Pay attention to the recommendation about arriving after noon as you don't want to be meeting someone on thier way out .We struggled when leaving at 11 am when we met two motorhomes coming the other way, funny I always thought they had reverse gears fitted but apparantly not ;O)

Not much to do in St Agnes itself but great beaches at Hayle, opposite the Godrevy CC site in the Towens, some good places to eat in St Ives now as it seems to have gone a little upmarket since our last visit.

And don't miss the sunset from the cliff top by the old mine or follow the path down to the beach.

have fun

Forgot to say, the soil is light so take the right pegs . Rock pegs don't hold as I found out when I had to replace them all at 2 am . And don't forget your awning tie down straps, it can get very windy at the top off the site.

Hi Brian,

how did you enjoy Goonhilly? we are convinced that the place is run by aliens - probably the most bizarre place I have ever visited! maybe it was just us...

Theres an Earth Station about 4 miles from where I live and I've read that Goonhilly is closing and Madley, Hereford will take over their work.

I must add that at night all the dishes are lit up and it does look a bit Quatermasish.

I enjoyed the technical stuff but the fact that they were dismantling some of the dishes probably bears out what you are saying, LB - although apparently the dish at the car park (Arthur?) is listed so I assume will always be there.

it was chucking it down and very misty the day we went so there was an unreal feeling anyway, I don't think there was anyone over 21 running the place - from the over-excited lad at the ticket gate it was all very strange...

Yes Mark (BF) I did enjoy it and you are right it does have a surreal quality about it and so much history. Not sure about aliens as the folk of Cornwall don't take to kindly to outsiders ;O)

And Lord B you are right ,they are taking two of the dishes apart. They announced on the tour bus that they were going to the Braykewynde estate to help get those last few illusive "adult" channels you have been missing ;O)

Brian

Thanks for some useful info. Our outfit is a similar size to yours so the last part of the journey could be interesting!! I estimate it to be about a four and a half hour drive for us, and being Friday I'm sure it will be well after mid-day when we arrive.

Strange isn't it, that a lot of drivers struggle with reversing even without a trailer.

Here's hoping for good weather.

Hi Brian. Yes we're back (and been away again). Senior management did the driving down. A bit naughty of me not to make her aware of your post about the narrow lanes. No problems though, she's very competent at negotiating them.

The site was very busy and unfortunately we wern't able to get a pitch with the best views. The site is excellent though and reccommended to anyone who intends visiting this part of Cornwall.

Thanks once again

Marcus
