I have just taken receipt of a new Bailey Senator Oklahoma and used the oven for the first time.I was concerned at the heat generated on the oven handles, two control knobs on the front and top of the work surface.I was interested to see a post from Sian on the 12/1/06 with a similar problem, Sian mentions a recall regards this and says she found it on this site, do you have anymore info re this as I cant find it.I am aware of the modification kit but am annoyed that this problem seems to be known for a kit to be produced and if known why wasnt my caravan fitted with this modification by Bailey prior to delivery to the Dealer...your opinions appreciated...Dave.

David, we took delivery of our Oklahoma in December and the modification had been fitted at the factory. I only new this when I asked what the small vent was for on the side of the van when we had the walk around the van. All other Senators I have seen since then had the modification done during build. I suggest you speak to the dealer as we still get some heat into the side cupboard but not to the level you are saying.

We took delivery in January and the vent was fitted

There is some insulation under the cooker taps as well.

We don't have a problem with ours as we use it to store disposable barbecues and haven't had it lit yet other then to see if it works.

I read about the anti-condensation boards to fit between the cushions and sides on this website and the dealer supplied then but said that nobody else knew about them.

It seems that Bailey will put right a problem if you ask but don't tend to broadcast faults.

We really love the van though

Thanks for your responses folks, I think ours has a small vent on the outside so maybe it has been fitted, the dealer did say the kit consisted of the fitting of heat plates and didnt know about an extra vent, we like the caravan despite this hiccup,we like the fixed bed.I think the problem with ovens is that alot of people dont use them and if they do they seem just to use the grill..It might be worth, if you havent done so,putting the oven on for a period of about 20 mins gas mark 6 to see what your heat build up is, this is the period/temperature mine was on for....Dave.

Hi David, we have used the oven quite extensively since we have had the van. It has also occasionally been on for long periods and we have not found that the handle or controls get overly hot. Like yourself and John I think its a great van which we are really pleased with.

David, I endorse Richard's comments. We have the Indiana and used it since Nov 2005. I do the dinnerand unless the box says stick in the oven for 30 mins and read the paper we don't have it. No problems with over heating. (The oven thermostat reads high though so I now use 1 point higher.)
