Bailey Participation in Caravan Forum Discussions

We have recently received a number of requests to participate in discussions taking place on various caravan forums.

Currently the established way of contacting Bailey is via our Customer Helpline either by e-mailing helpline@bailey-caravans.co.uk or by telephoning 0117-3052939. This service is widely advertised, has been available for a number of years and remains the most effective and efficient method of making contact with us.

However it has become apparent that through the growth in popularity caravan forums as a method of communication, that owners now require manufacturers to be more accessible. We would therefore like to congratulate Pete Smith and the team at Swift for recognising this need and pioneering manufacturer involvement in caravan forum discussions.

Bailey is happy to share the same platform with other manufacturers, but we will restrict our replies to selected threads specifically relating to our products and will not become involved in general discussions comparing different makes of caravan as clearly this would be inappropriate. We will therefore begin monitoring the most popular sites on a regular basis and respond accordingly.

We would also like to become more pro-active in this respect and will in future be asking for feedback from forum members on a variety of product design issues.

We will be in touch again shortly,

Best Regards

Nick Howard - Managing Director

I trust that Swift , Bailey and any other manufacturer who is brave enough to contribute to the forum will not regret it. There are bound to be owners who have real, or perceived, grieviences that have driven them to wits end. I would hate it to degenerate so that the manufacturers put the shutters up once again and hide behind the dealer network. Please keep things civil even if you feel the world is against you.

Hi Nick,

This is fantastic news for us Bailey supporters and forum posters.

Swift were having a tough time of criticism earlier last year . Once their Kath got into action it was almost like your own private line to the President. This has installed major customer confidence in the Swift products and their ability to find a resolution to a problem "swiftly".

I do hope and want Bailey to emulate Swift and make all of us caravanners happy bunnies.

There are already a number of threads on this forum relevant to your company and I am sure you will be very happy to try and resolve them.

Cheers and welcome again to the our caravanners world.

Alan

Hi Trevor, We have a nearly three year old Monarch with gas/electric heater. With regard to the blown air going 'off', have you put the switch to automatic, which on ours is to the right. If you push the little switch to the left, manual, the blown air should stay switched on. However, we find that the gas and/or blow on more efficient.

Is this a question relevent to only Bailey or caravans in general? I think that even if you own a Bailey, to keep them on board in this forum it would be helpfull to note Nick's comment that only questions specifically relating to his product will be answered. I think general queries are better addressed to forum members who's vast amount of experience will no doubt provide the answer you seek.

I am pleased to see Bailey following Swifts lead - perhaps the caravan industry is at long last beginning to wake up to the fact that it needs to look after its customers!

Indeed, had any kind of customer care service been demonstrated to me 12 months ago I might not be a FORMER Bailey customer!

Great news for Bailey owners - lets hope other manufacturers now follow.

Hi Margaret, it not the blow air going off, it the heat that coming out of the electric fire that going off, But we did have it on the 2000 watt may be that was the trouble, will try it on the 1000 watt next time to keep it ticking over, if that don't help, I will have to have it on electric during the day and on gas at night, because of my health problem, as I only just come out of hospital, and been off work for a month and now been give the clear to go back to work on light duties, Thanks Trevor

Firstly it is great news that Bailey have followed Swift and are prepared to post on the forum.

It is right that they do not become embroiled in comparison with other makes, and that questions are directly related to their products.

Let us hope that other manufacturers continue to follow the lead set by these two companies and that they are welcomed as very useful sources of information.

Secondly, relating to Trevor and his heating problem, this has been covered in great depth over a long period of time.

The cause of the problem is the location of the wall switch for the electric heater, it is also the thermostat.

Because of the way vans are built, it is usual to have the switch mounted so that the rear of the switch is behind a panel, which is not subject to rapid temperature changes, therefore once the van warms up, including the area where the thermostat is, when the main van cools down, the sheltered area behind the panel, or locker side, does not, so the thermostat does not recognise the temperature change, so will not switch the power back on.

The solution is to have a remote sensor fitted at low level which will overcome the problem.

I wondered how long it would take for a manufacturer to realise that "face to face" posting in the forum is not always such a good idea and how long it would take before they returned to the protection of their Customer Services and dealer network.

Is the post from Kath at Swift, saying that they will not respond to any more postings regarding the window frames, the first sign of doubts creeping in?

Mod 2, Thanks for the reply, we had our van service before xmas, so will have it booked in later this year before the winter set in, and get the problem sorted out, so in the time I use the electric during the day and the gas fire at night,

Once again Thanks Trevir

It is great to see that Bailey are now also prepared to participate in caravan forums, be it this one or others I am not aware of. We are now the proud owners of our second Bailey Ranger 500/5 and to date have nothing but praise for them. In my opinion Bailey vans, whilst not offering the all singing, all dancing luxury of some manufacturers, are first class regarding value for money and for Mr & Mrs Average family the ideal solution to caravanning. Well done
