Hi everyone,

new to the caravan scene and have jumped in at the deep end. I bought the above caravan and am working through the dampness which I should be able to manage.

the 2 issues I am concerned about are the corner pieces of wood that attaches to the leg and the 2 pieces that seem to be the main floor frame.

the main floor frame seems to be exposed and a believe that is how water is travelling in and the piece of wood at the leg is complete damp and broke off.
I have attached pictures and any help is appreciated.

Hello D6oby,

Welcome to the forum.

First I notice you have started two identical messages on different sections. This creates confusion, I suggest you request the modes to combine them into just one thread.

As for the problem at hand, The rot does look significant and generally in such cases its absolutely necessary to remove all the affected material. It is common to discover the rot actually goes much further than an outward inspection suggests. Water ingress can occur some distance from the visible consequences, and we have seen several small jobs become quite major rebuilds.

You should use treated timber to prevent further infestation.

I can't personally advise on the detail of your caravan, perhaps others can but whilst the pictures do suggest the seriousness of teh problem its difficult to remotely identify exactly what is what.

You may need to revert to getting a local mobile caravan engineer to advise.

Thanks and sorry for that, new to all this lol.

the majority of it is ok, just unsure about the floor. Does anyone know if it’s one big sheet or in sections as the leg has came through. Rotted from the inside out I would say
