Bailey Senator Series 5 oven problem

We have a Senator Virginia series 5. I have only used the oven two or three times and have found that the flame keeps going out. After a few minutes of operation the flame 'leaves' the burner and goes out. The first couple of times I used it I found that, after re-lighting it several times, it then stayed alight, but last weekend it went out again after about half an hour - thank goodness for the built-in microwave! I'm planning to contact our dealer, but has anyone else had this problem or can suggest a fix? Thanks.

Hi

In the instructions for the Truma space heater for my Bailey Ranger it says that "..if the flame lifts off while burning, it is likely the regulator is faulty, and it is essential to have it checked". Does the same fault appear with other flames?

By the way what buit-in microwave (make and model) did they fit and where is it positioned?

Thanks for your reply. Other flames do appear to be OK, but will get regulator checked. Re microwave, can't remember make as 'van not here but think it might be a Daewoo? I'll get back to you on that if you wish. It's positioned up level with top cupboards over the sink which is far from ideal although at 5'7" I can reach it OK, but can't think where else it could go as lower cupboard space limited as it is! Thanks again.

We have a S5 Senator Oklahoma (Jul 06) and make regular use of the gas oven. Sometimes the flame goes out on releasing the button (after holding it in for 10-15 secs for the flame failure device to activate) but otherwise once lit, it stays lit.

As to the microwave, yes it is a Daewoo, 700w power consumption and we also use it a lot. So much so that our 6kg Calor propane bottle lasted for 228 days of use (i.e. 228 total days away in the caravan). The position of the microwave in the Oklahoma is much closer to normal worktop level than on some other models.

Regards,

Keith (M)

Thanks Keith. Unfortunately it's not as easy as that. This problem is usually several minutes after lighting, and usually goes out several times so 'SillyBilly's suggestion re regulator is probably the one to pursue - unless anyone else has any ideas?

Hi, I had the same problem ona 05 Series 5 Pageant. The oven burner unit was cahnged under warranty. Also does your van have baffles and an external vent to stop excessive oven heat coming into the van. On our Bordeaux the cupboard near to the oven became very warm and the lack ofa dedicated vent to the oven meant that the warmth could only be controlled by opening the roof vent. Bailey hada mod that placed baffles at the rear of the oven/cupboards and inserted a vent into the van wall directly behind the oven. Problems removed!

Thanks Clive. Have been to our van supplier who tells us it sounds likely that the burner is not getting enough air and suggested leaving the 'pan' cupboard open below, making sure also that the vent in the cupboard floor is not blocked by pans etc. Have tried this and it seems to be OK but will thoroughly test on next outing. Will follow your advice if this fails, and also if heat is a problem, particularly as fridge is next to it. Thanks again.
