We have our van, a Wyoming, in storage and after 4 months in storage we took it out, February, to go to the show at the NEC in Birmingham, took it home to prepare for the trip and the cupboards, walls were covered in a green mould, the dealer's service department said "We have had a lot of calls about this, its condensation, its not water ingress". "You have to leave a couple of windows open on the latch". Now we have had caravans for 25 years,( 1x Perle,2x Swifts and 2x Bailey) and have never come across this before. Has any one else experienced this???

Hi Bill,

Do you have aluminium window frames?

We have a Wyoming and so far no mould on the walls but the rest is history if you read the thread on ally windows. I've had other Baileys and no one has ever suggested leaving the windows on the night catch?

We will be off on tuesday , first time in four weeks so I'll check very carefully.

Cheers

Alan

Hi Bill

I'm certain thay may be the culprit . Our series 5 Pageant Vendee neev rhad any damp or condensation issues. There over 138 posts on the ally frames so I know a number of Swift and Bailey owners have experienced issues of varying degrees.

I'll let you know how we fare on my return.

Cheers

Alan

Bill, omg what a shock for you. These aluminium windows are a pain in the ar*e. Why dont the dealers just stick or go back to th good old robber frames where nobody hard any problems.

I dont see why you should have to leave any windows on night vent. You paid alot of money out for a top of the range van.

im away next week in my sterling elite onyx.Mine to has aluminium windows so i to will be keeping a close eye on the pools of water on the frames. if any appear then there will be pictures.

ill keep you posted.

Check with your insurers before leaving windows on the night catch - most caravans are simple to enter under these conditions.

Only if the mould is in only the vicinity of the windows is it conceivable that the problem is due to thermal conductivity of alumnimium window frames. However, if the problem is elsewhere too, then it is due to inadequate ventilation and poor insulation of the walls in general.

Hi all, thanks for your comments. The mould was all over any flat surface, inside cupboards etc, not near the windows themselves.
