Bailey Tracker Alarm (Problems)

Can anyone please help, i picked up my new Bailey Virginia on Saturday which has a tracker alarm fitted with internal pir, i have so far been inside the caravan about 6 times without the alarm sounding, so i decided to test by arming the alarm a few times opening the door and going inside, not a sound came from the alarm even though the pir was glowing red.

Has anyone else had this problem and furthermore has anyone else who has this alarm tested it.

Thanx in advance Sean.

Sean,

The tracker device & the vans alarm systems are two diferent entities.

A PIR (passive infa Red) is always active & will pick up any movement within it's range and the tell tale red LED will light up when it detects movement.

To check whether the alarm is working, set the alarm, give it time to stabalise, usually about 30 to 45 seconds, the enter the van without switching off the alarm, it should sound as soon as you are detected, dependant on the entry time delay that has been programmed.

A tracker device informs the control centre where the van is located, & dependant on the type of unit it is:........

Retrieve = you tell the control centre that its missing, they activate the device via satalite & track & inform the police where it is located

Monitor = the control centre continually monitor the unit, any unusual movement they contat you to find out if its legitamate, if not then they contact the police.

Tracker devices NEVER sound any type of audible alarm

GeorgeB,

Whilst you are correct that a Tracker system and an alarm are two entirely separate systems the new Bailey Senators are fitted with both a Tracker System and a Tracker internal alarm. As far as the alarm goes the name Tracker refers only to the make and not to any Tracking function it does. It would seem that Sean's alarm does have a problem. I have not seen the alarm fitted to the Senators but would assume it is similar to other PIR type alarms. As well as the suggestions made by GeorgeB could I also suggest checking that the movement sensor is actually "aimed" correctly at the entrance area. If that doesn't work get on to the supplying dealer. Please let me know how you get on Sean, I am due to pick up my Senator later in the Spring.

I think that at when the new Senators came out at first the internal alarm was an option fitted at extra cost. Then when Bailey increased their prices around Autumn it became a standard fitment.

Hi Sean

We have a 2008 Series 6 Wyoming factory fitted with the Tracker which includes the full alarm, ie tilt , move PIR etc.

I tried it yesterday as you made me wonder if mine was ok.

I religiously followed the setting instructions ie two presses and two bleeps. Went inside and waited. Just after the prescribed 456 seconds the siren sounded. Switched her off then as I didn't want to activate the Tracker itself ( Note I was worrying unnecessarily here because the van must move before the Tracker operates and then after a short time delay.

Just a thought is integral power supply ok as indeed is the leisure battery?

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Alan

Hello Sean,

If this is a new caravan, and you have any questions about how a facility works or should be operated, then your dealer has not done a proper hand over.

Looking at the replies on this thread, there are different opinions and descriptions. They can't all be right, and it is possible none of them are.

For accurate confirmation about what should happen contact your dealer.

Correction. I meant 45 seconds .

Agree you should go and see your dealer. Be aware of any special terms that may apply to your caravan Insurance policy .

If you know it is not working correctly your insurance may be invalidated in the event of a claim.

Maybe you need to have a chat with your insurers and get the problem sorted asap.

Cheers

Alan

hi, what tracker and alarm is it?.

mine is a phamtom.

did you register it and get a certificate and devise number.

i have a new sterling elite onyx and that comes with an alarm and tracker. it has to have a little plug fitted into the box by the dealer and then they should activate it and set it off they will have a call back.

if it has not been activated you might have to go to the van and activate it ring the company and they will give you a devise number.

hope you sort it.

HI all and thanx for your comments, after speaking to the dealer tracker are coming out on wednesday to fix the problem with the alarm , hopefully should be sorted then, the dealers can't fix the alarms as tracker won't supply them with test equipment I WONDER WHY WHEN TRACKER HAVE GOOD NAME DO THEY WANT IT TAINTED.

I read with interest your comments and have first hand experience. There has been a problem with the arming of the Tracker system (not Phantom tracker) on some caravans, both Bailey and Tracker themselves have been more than helpful in sorting this out.

The tracker alarm sounds if the caravan is moved with the tracker enabled, it is some minutes after sounding - if still moving that the silent tracker system is activated, following which Tracker contact you to advise of the caravan movement (very efficient as mine has been activated some 6 or so times by accident).

I cannot comment on the PIR as this is an extra not fitted to mine, I assume that when set this will sound within a short period of time after triggering.

I would re-iterate the other comments, run it past your dealer but also look in the handbook - Bailey literature is quite clear and precise with mine.

Regards

Paul
