We took delivery of a new bailey ancona, last November, since then bailey have replaced the seat cushions, they call it dreamsleep, I call it nightmare sleep, as the original seating would slide, and block the front shelves, every time you got up, you had to push the seating back again, they replaced them with narrower rear baffle boards and new seating, but this hasent made any difference, in fact although the seating foam feels firmer, after getting up, it leaves a big indent where you have just sat, plus you still have to push it back into place which is driving you nuts, if I contact my dealer again I'll probably just get Palmer off with another set the same, it seems a common problem with this model, some have even paid for different seating because it's so uncomfortable, I have never had this problem with any of my 23 previous caravans, and after spending thousands on a new van, do not expect to spend another £500 to £600 on comfy seating, would I have any redress about this, as I'm getting it from my financial advisor, as I was the one to choose this model

To make a claim you would have to show the beds were unfit for purpose. This is very subjective with beds and would probably need evidence from an expert or of others having the same problem. I have not seen complaints of this as a problem but a search of other forums might show others do also suffer.

Hello Smurf,
I agree with Raywood's response,

I will make the assumption that when Bailey call the cushions "Dream Sleep" they are filled with memory foam, as it is commonly used by the bedding industry for mattresses. One of the characteristics of Memory foam is to compress under load, and to be slow to reset to its original uncompressed shape. This seems to be effect you are experiencing when sitting.

When you think about it; if you weigh for example 75Kg and you lie down, your weight is distributed across a large surface area, but when you sit you use less surface area so the pressure will be greater on the smaller area of contact. This will compress the memory even more when sitting

This is one of the real problems for dual function furniture, finding the best compromise between the necessary strengths of foam.

Unless the foam has collapsed completely or is disintegrating or the covers have worn through, proving that a cushion is not fit for purpose is going to prove very difficult, and with no guarantee of getting an authoritative report that supports your contention, very costly.

There would be no harm in asking your dealer to check the cushions, just in case there is known fault.

If the cushions are deemed not faulty, it will probably be less costly to consult with furniture/mattress manufacture to commission a bespoke set of cushions to your own specification, than to try pursuing the matter against the dealer/manufacturer.
