Bailey Warranty Issues

Does anyone have any advice as to how I can expedite a warranty repair with Bailey? I have a damp issue in the floor of my new Cadiz which was picked up on the first service. My Authorised Repairer says we just have to wait for Bailey to OK the repair and provide spares but it's been 2 months now. Any ideas?

Two months does seem somewhat excessive to get any repair authorised by Bailey.

When you say "spares" what spares are they? as a damp floor doesn't need any new parts.
My suspicions would be that your dealer doesn't want to clog up his workshop at this time of year with any warranty work, for which he gets paid peanuts compared to what he can earn from non warranty work.

It might be worth your while contacting Bailey to ask them if they have actually had ahy warranty request from your dealer in regards to your caravan, and if they have authorised any repair.

Be sure to include your caravans VIN number in your enquiry as that's the only way Bailey can identify it, and the ID your dealer has (should have?) used when applying for authorisation.

I wouldn't get too worried, if the damp spreads/gets worse it's not your problem to sort it but theirs! You may find that your dealer will put off the repairs until late autumn when the workshop will not be so busy. Better that than ou being without your caravan over the summer period suerly?

He who shouts loudest! If I had bought a new van, and it leaked, absolutely holy hell would be kicked up, I would literally drive to Bailey and have a little word. The BBC are also keen to “publicise” this kind of thing, it’s amazing how quick things get sorted when on national, or regional tv.

Good luck, but don’t stand for any nonsense from the dealer or Bailey. 🤞

Time to start writing a letter to your Dealer. Your Contract of purchase is with them not Bailey.
Which? have a number of template letters you can use based on The Consumer Rights Act 2015.
How did you pay for the Cadiz? Cash, finance, CC? Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act gives power to your elbow.
A new caravan from 2024 should not leak!

Buckman is our expert on these matters and has successfully rejected cars and caravans using CRA. I'm sure he will comment. Don't despair you will get this sorted once the Dealer knows you mean business

Parts can be notoriously slow to come in to repairers but your first step is to check that the warranty claim has actually been submitted and accepted.
I have a warranty claim on my Swift at the moment ( the well known crack in the panoramic window fault). I can check the owners online system where services are logged ( called My Swift Life) and see that the warranty claim has been submitted. It has-on Friday. I can later check whether it has been approved. It is then a waiting game for the parts. In the case of the pano window this is at least 4 months judging by most folks experience.
You say you have an “authorised repairer”. I assume that this is not the dealer? This is fine, and exactly what I have done, but if you want to start invoking CRA as others suggest then your argument is with the dealer who sold it to you.
Good luck

This issue has been identified at the first service, which is clearly stated in the original post, so the caravan is around 12 months old, so way outside the window for rejection.

CRA addresses latent defects in goods sold to consumers. Latent defects are hidden flaws or defects not apparent during a reasonable inspection at the time of purchase. The CRA ensures that goods are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described, even if latent defects emerge later.

On the basis the OP can prove the defect was there at the point of sale he should be allowed to enjoy the full scope of CRA .

I think Buckman may have used this argument in one of his many CRA rejection claims🙀
