Thank you for your comments regarding the water pump in your tourer.

Whilst the pump operation will be audible, this should not be intrusive.

We would recommend that you take the following steps to reduce this

Open the taps before switching on the pump to ensure that any air inside the pump is pushed out of the system.

Ensure that the umbilical cord is engaged correctly.

Liberally lubricate the water filter inlet nipple 'O' rings with vegetable oil or Vaseline. This will assist with prevention of air being drawn into the system and reduce the level of sound emitted.

I can also arrange for some replacement rubber feet to be sent to you which will also reduce the noise you experience.

Please email your VIN number and address to helpline@bailay-caravans.co.uk and I will arrange for these to be sent to you.

We would be interested in your thoughts on the performance of this component

Kind Regards

I found the pump in out Bailey Senator Oklahoma OK and a lot quieter than the one in our Award Nightstar

I had removed the screws from the feet on the Bailey so must try the same on the Nightstar and rest it on some foam rubber

Oh Dear,,,quote "Liberally lubricate the water filter inlet nipple 'O' rings with vegetable oil or Vaseline."

I cannot believe that a "Design and Engineering Manager" has actually posted this.

Both ordinary vegetable oil and vaseline are the worst enemies of 'O' Rings as they cause their deterioration, swelling and possible pressure damage to the surrounding fitment.

If you lubricate 'O'rings you should only use a silicone grease or spray.

Depends what the O rings are made of, you don't usually see proper natural rubber ones nowadays that would be affected by the oils, if they are say Nitrile then it's no problem as they are alcohol, fuel and mineral oil resistant.
