Hi Kim

We missed this weekend but are planning to use the van from thursday to sunday this week.

I hear you are joining us for the haloween meet. I will be easy to spot as it appears I will be back on crutches by then :(

Glad you had a great weekend. A caravan in the rain is a great plae to be if you like the people you spend time with. For me its the best

Hi all.

We came back this morning from our bank hol weekend spent on the east coast (near skegness), weather on sat was not too bad, but it went downhill rapidly on sunday, it rained continually all sunday, and by sunday night as well as rain we had strong winds too, made for a lovely night listening to the rain and wind.

We have a Suncamp scenic plus porch awning which stood up to the bad weather brilliantly, I was sceptical as to how it would cope, but it is great for weekends away.

Luckily (or unluckily for others) the weather forecast indicated that the whole country had the same weather, so it was not like we were thinking that we wished we had picked another location.

Anyway got good and wet packing up this morning, and the awnings now hung up in the shed to dry.

Hope everyone else enjoyed there weekend.

We had booked Craigtoun Meadows near St Andrews (1 1/2 miles) and departed on Friday afternoon expecting a wet and windy weekend.

Saturday and Sunday we walked to and from St Andrews and spent over 4 hours each day visiting the various sites in the town. Saturday was the best day - folks sitting outside and wearing shorts etc, and Sunday was dry and bright but a little windy.

Only rained once - about 6am on Sunday morning for an hour but by 10.00am the kids on site were all out playing on the grass area which had since dried.

Thankfully the weather men don't get it right all of the time!

Absolutely horrendous weather here on the Isle of Wight.

Massive rainfall, gales, boat services suspended.

We went to Llangollen in Denbighshire and had a fabulous Friday and not bad at all on Saturday - found this stunning waterfall:

Heavenly place. Then the rain started Saturday afternoon and didn't stop. After wandering around Wrexham in the rain we cut our losses and headed home 5pm on Sunday - had a lovely day at home going to the local car boot and Science Museum with the kids.

So all in all did the best thing I think and really enjoyed my Bank Holiday weekend.

However the rain was very heavy all night Saturday night and apparently I kept leaping out of bed and opening the door to check that the awning hadn't collapsed under the weight of all the water!! So didn't get a great night's sleep.

Hi all, we had a great time away over the bank holiday weekend so much we stopped an extra night came home on the Tuesday and then went into work in the afternoon, weather was ok managed to have BBQ's kids played on the large field next to the site all we had was a light shower during the night and one passing shower on the Monday that missed us as we went out for a couple of hours, I think by the sounds of it we got off lightly with the weather, hope the rain didnt spoil anybody's weekend away.

Didnt use the 'van this bank holiday. We fancied a complete change and a hotel so went over to Jersey for a few days. Fastcraft from Poole-St Helier just over 4 hours and a nice hotel where waiters serve you excellent food - trouble is the Missus has been spoilt now!!

Yes we had some rain, but also several long stints on the beach and got a bit of a suntan. All this about 100 miles south of the Isle of Wight which was supposed to be the wettest place in the country.

Did miss the van a bit though.

Went to Sutton Bank near Thirsk in Yorkshire, Dog sitting, Thursday to the next Wednesday (mid week campers) Walked at least 9 miles every day. Proves that there is no such thing as bad weather, only un-suitable clothing. Plus (smugly) the weather was not as bad as it was South of the Wash.
