Does anyone out there have one of the above awnings? What do you think of it? It seems to be supported by a large steel hoop like the outdoor revolution easy porch. We have given up on our ultima 390 as the outer poles are not adjustable for length and consequently depending on pitch slope we cannot get the bottom of the awning to even come close to meeting the caravan side even although the suppliers confirmed that the height of our van meets the requirements for this awning. They also confirmed that unfortunately it is a common complaint with the Ultima hence the interest in the Basecamp model! many thanks.....

We have one, it's really lovely so easy to put up, the only problem we had was getting some pegs into the ground, bent 7 rock pegs, but that was the campsite not the awning, lots of room. Easy to clean and when taken down wet hangs nicely from the bannister in the house dry in a couple of hours.

Forgot to mention we have a Hymer, which sits really high off the ground, we didn't have an issue with the length, haveing been on 2 sites, where the ground was unlevel as usual, we had a Ultima, and it kept popping out of the awning rail, the beading was/is too small, and won't stay in. the Romany works great, the bottom is secured with ladders so you can adjust, we are very pleased with it on the whole.

We have got the Romany porch awning and it's great. The shape is very practical and the 2 of us can sit in it with plenty of room. It fits against our van much better than our old scenic porce, and is as easy to erect.

If anyone out there is interested we have just bought one of the basecamp romany 400xl awnings to replace a new ultima 390. After 2 outings we gave up the Ultima due to it not meeting the caravan sides depending on slope of pitch and also had a nasty habit of the roof filling like a goldfish bowl if it rained even when the supplier agreed it was a perfect fit height wise (on paper) . Problem was the pole length is not adjustable and depending on pitch lay/slope we got the above problems. The Romany is by far a better design in my opinion but perhaps the Ultima material was a little heavier. Many thanks to my Ultima supplier, awnings.co.uk who agreed to take it back and refunded purchase price for the above reasons. They apparently have asked for the design to be altered on 2008 models as there have been a problems like this so you never know! Also may I thank L and Adele as it is normally better relying on owners to spot problems or praise a product rather than relying on glossy brochures or caravan mags.! Thanks again..now who knows anything about draining down your water before leaving site.....just joking!
