battery boiling

hi i have an elddiss crusader storm 1992 and the battery is not trickle charging but boiling.also since this happened we also have no blown air heating or water tank gauge could this all be linked please help.

The boiling battery could be due to a shorted cell which would cause the batttery to draw too high a current from the charger creating excesssive heat and boiling the electrolyte. I have had this problem. Beware if the electrolyte is boiling it will be giving off hydrogen gas which is highly explosive.

The battery boiling would indicate it is being over charged so the output of the charger is suspect, it should be no more than 13.8 volts if left connected permanently.

It's difficult to say if it is the cause of the other things not working but if the over voltage is excessive then perhaps it could be.

A dud cell will cause a battery to boil my advice is to scrap it

Did I say it wouldn't? and if it's been boiling it may well be u/s now.. but not necessarily due to an internal fault.

If the charger is faulty and is delvering AC and not DC the battery will boil. I have had this happen, it is easy to check for this with a multimeter.
