battery charge when buying 2nd hand

I bought a 2nd caravan for ten thousand pound from a dealer Paid my money and on collection discoverd that no battery was fitted Had to pay another £100 they told me that this was common practice Any advice please

When i bought mine it had a battery.

Having said that , I understand that batteries are extra on new 'vans. i bet the people who part ex'ed yours for a new one took 'thier' battery with them. [Tight a***s!]

Shame you didn't spot it before you did the deal, I bet he'd have chucked the battery in to clinch it!

yes its normal practise, also with the gas cylinder, however now you are "seasoned" no doubt next time you will bargain for all your items in with the price?

Yes As others have said it is normal. I was lucky when I bought my 2nd van it had a battery and gas bottle and awning left in it, I made sure that the dealer left them all in!!

There's no hard and fast rule about what accessories a second-hand caravan includes within its purchase price.

Buyer beware is the long standing adage.

One hint,though, check thoroughly before you agree to purchase on such things, and if they are not included, then haggle. a dealer will typically pay only about 60% of the list price for most accessories items, so they have quite a lot of lee way, and would be fools to lose a sale for the want of a
