Battery Life and a non EHU pitch

As a newbie caravanner i have been offered a non-EHU pitch for the easter weekend but have no concept of how far the 'Heavy duty Leisure battery' will last.

We dont have a TV in there and so the only electrical consumption will be lights in the evening and the occassional use of the water pump.

I was planning a 3 night stop but am worried the battery will empty before our holiday is over, any advice?

Hi,

Normally a battery would easily last 3 nights, plus you can always power from the car at suitable times which will save the on board battery power a little. The one thing you have not mentioned that you will be using is the air blower for the heating - this bit of kit can normally kills a battery quite quickly and this time of year you will need to use it (unless we get a heat wave). But be careful with battery use and share the load with the car and you should be fine. Enjoy.

Thanks David,

The heater is gas/Electric so i assume (not read the manual) i can run this purely off gas.

I suppose the only way i am going to find out for sure is by giving it a go!

Hi, we regularly use our van on rallies, without EHU. Using it as you describe (no TV), we can last up to 10 days on just the battery providing the battery is fully charged at the beginning of the trip.

Hope this helps.

Alan
