Took the caravan out of storage to-day and found the battery flat. Caravan is 6 months old and was used about 6 weeks ago no problem. Conected up the EHU to the garage for about 3 hours and the battery is still dead. Any idea's????????

Robert,

The van may only be 6 months old but the battery could be much older. Check the level above the electrodes if you can, and check that the vans charger is giving an output, measure the voltage of the battery then check again with the charger switched on, should be higher.

Other than that take it back to the dealer and get them to do it under warranty.

Robert you remind me of me .

Check first to see what you have left switched on in the van.

It may only be power to radio but the memory will draw your battery down in no time .

If battery is right down it will take a while to pickup but as as said above check water level in battery as well .

I hope this helps. Sir Roger

As Sir Roger says, check what may have been left turned on in the van. Make sure you turn off the 12v master switch if you've got one,if we don't the radio memory draws power as does the aerial power unit and its also everso easy to leave the fan running on the gas heater, all of which will pull the battery down in a week or less. Flattening the battery just once will considerably shorten its life, leaving it dead flat for several weeks has probably killed it stone dead.

just spend 2 hrs at the dealers workshop watching them trying to sort problemb.Checked battery puting out 8 volts after being attached to car for 1 hour run. Main battery fuse blown. Replaced blown again. On EHU battery putting almost zero.Taking battery out of circuit charger puts out 14 volts. I suggest to them (my only electrical experience o grade physics about 40 years ago) That the problem may be battery, so this is replaced and all is ok.

To be honest if I had witnessed all this earlier I would have not bought a new caravan caravan I would have not. The mess of wires and plugs attached to the control unit is a nightmare and beyond the skills of the average technician.
