I have an M-Tec 110 Amp battery approx 18 Months old, I lived in the caravan for 17 Months with power supplied so the caravan charger was on most of the time. Now that I am home I wish to go with the local DA on weekends with no power supplied. I have tried to run a 12 volt TV, and at 12 Volts draws 5 Amps. This will only last about 2 Hours, and the battery voltage drops to just over 10 volts which will not operate the TV. Is my battery at fault? The battery charges ok to just over the 12 volts. My local leasure battery dealer has no idea.

Thank,s Paul

Hi Paul, the battery at that load should last in theory 20h not 2h.

With the charger off check the battery voltage, should be 12.5 ish, if it isn't then perhaps the charger isn't charging.

If shows 12.5v then take it to a garage and ask them to do a 'drop test' on the battery, this will only take a minute and will tell you if the battery is healthy or needs to go to recycle heaven.

Hi Paul, A caravan battery charger will usualy only charge a battery to about 80% as it charges at a lower voltage in order to prevent possible gassing. If you can borrow a multi stage charger such as the C-tec 3500 OR can buy a LiDle or ALDI charger(
