If you go into a caravan dealer he will not sell anymore than about 1 metre which is usless as you would have to BBQ in the awning.

Go to one of the Calor Gas centres, you can find them easily just Google "calor", they will sell you whatever length you want

Thanks Graham, do you happen to know if the pressure will drop if the pipe is too long. We think we need about 3 metres to clear our fiamma. Helen.

I have had no problem getting the length of hose I required . With my Cadac we have some 5 metres and no problems, this allows me to burn whatever we are about to offer to the gods without setting fire to the awning, but I would add you need a hose type acording to the gas used so I am told but todate ( which is more years than I would care to make to public) I have not bothered.

Strangely enough I purchase 6 metres of the piping yesterday from my local dealerfor the same purpose.

I was pleased and surprised to be sold that length.

I have a friend who deals with a lot of caravan dealers and they would not sell him a long length.

I've yet to tell him !!

I got 4m recently and the dealer who sold it me said somthing which was interesting

At what point in time did it become more dangerous to use a 4m hose that required the rules being changed? And who decided that?

I have about 4 metres which allows me to comfortably clear the awning with sufficient distance so the sides do not get splashed and I have had no problem with pressure drop.

I have used around 3 metres on my BBQ but do find it works better with only the recommended 1 metre presumably due to pressure drop.I suspect with a Cadac this might be less noticable as they are really just a big burner with a griddle plate on top!

I two have a bbq point outside the van, offside so wont be in the awning, Question:does the pipe not come with the purchese of the bbq & if not its it best to keep to 1 metre due to pressure drop.

Also can anybody recomend a good make & around belly high, pref a fold up-down, Also one best for being lightweight.

Thank's in advance

I have never tried a BBQ with 4 m of hose on it so i can't speak from experience but why would it make a difference to the pressure? The oven in my van is more than 4m from the bottle and that works fine as does the water heater which is even further.

Hi helen, I use a 5m hose on my BBQ and have not had any problems. On my set up I have connected a tee piece in the line for when I use a gas bottle that wont fit in the locker.

This way I have a convenient connction point as well as reducing the line pressure drop because the gas is not running from one end of the van to the other.

The same connection also of course runs all the appliances in the van.
