Morning folks, looking for some recommendations from the collective knowledge on here!

What I'm looking for are your experiences and suggestions for sites which are as close to the sea as possible without getting my jockey wheel wet! For our 3 week summer holiday we'd like to leave God's Country (Scotland ;-) !) so Wales and England it is. We ruled out Ireland due to the cost of ferry crossings. We have 2 youngsters of 7 and 4 and aren't keen on the big sites with amusement arcades etc as we like to make our own entertainment.

Any suggestions greatfully received.

Regards,

John.

John CC Freshwater East near Tenby is a quiet site close to the beach, which has rock pools.

Pembry CC in South Wales is another great site set in a park with lots to do and close to the beach.

If you are inclined for a mammoth drive Godvrey Davis Park just outside St Ives Cornwall, nearer to you is Sandringham CC site with in striking distance of beaches at Hunstanton and wells next to the sea, C&CC have loads of Sites near Beaches Scarborough for one you can see this site on the Caravan Channel web site.

Hope this helps.

HiJohn

Having just come back from Sandringham can really recomend the site, clean and tidy and very peaceful. The beaches are all very easy to get to the one at Snettisham is only a few miles away we found a very good sandy beach at Brancaster just miles of sand, there are two sites next door to each other we stayed on the caravan club site good for kids as there is two play areas with swings and climbing frames.

Hope this helps a bit

If you travel as far as the south coast Seadown Holiday Park in Charmouth Dorset is highly recommended.

The site is quiet, close to the beach and a couple of minutes walk from Charmouth.

Charmouth is on what's called the Jurassic coast so if your youngsters are budding palientologists this is the place to go.

It's listed on

That's on their forum which has been repeatedly targeted by spammers.

The site finder is ok and Haymarket are aware of the spam and are trying to deal with it.

I shouldn't send too many people to that site Parksy. Check out the forum and you'll see at least four posts advertising porn.

Made me blush.
I just had to have a look, in the interests of verification of course, and you're right LB, it's rampant on that forum!!

(Erm, perhaps a different choice of words may have been better, *blush*)

Hi Sue, it didn't take much to rouse your interest :0)

I feel sorry for those who run our sister forum but it goes to show what a difference on the ball moderators can make ;0)

Steve, I just didn't believe a caravan forum would be advertising porn, so I had to go and have a look to check whether LB was being a bit of a tease.....and I was shocked!! ;-)

It's nowt to do with us on here but I'd have thought that their mods would have deleted that filth by now.

I'll get in touch with admin (same as ours) first thing in the morning.

Hi

Pembrey cc is lovely, in addition to the beech, you are next door to the country park - good for bikes and walking, also has a very good kids play area in the park, play area also on site our 3 kids love the site. Web site for Pembrey Country park is informative. We are returning to Pembrey again this year, were there last year.

Freshwater East cc is also a good site, walking distance from the beech, have stopped there a few times and will return.

Hawthorn Farm cc site at Sutton on Sea is a short car drive from the beach, you could walk to the beach at Sutton on Sea but not with all the beach gear. We have parked at the beach car park at Mablethorpe, at the far end - lovely beach - miles of sand.

Hillhead cc site has a sandy beach at Godrington Sands a short drive away.

Hope this helps

Annette

if you dont want to spend your 3 weeks sitting in traffic jams down south, why not split up your 3 weeks,so tarvel from Scotland for a few hours to Preston, nice site in Longridge, beacon fell view, they have a large swimming pool, kids pool, plenty of places to walk as its overlooks the reserviour, club house, kids play including climing frames ,ball pools etc.there and kids clubs in high season, has a shop & food bar that never seems to shut, spend a week there then maybe hitch up and spend another 3 hr run to Anglesey, trearddur bay, bagnol has a park right on the beach so you can explore the island & go swimming in sea that is blue for a change.
