I will be travelling from Bunree (Onich) up to Kinlochewe (Achnasheen) later this month. I was considering going up the A82 to Inverness, then turning east to reach A832, but wondered about turning off at Drumnadrochit and taking the A833 then A862 joining A832 at Muir of Ord. There appears to be some steep hills just after Drumnadrochit and just wondered if this route is viable? I will be towing a 7.5m caravan with a Sorento.

He Pablo

Done both sites many times.
There are three choices all of which are safe for towing. I use a Sorrento with a TA 7.99m 1700kgs on the back.
Bunree will not allow any awnings lochside. Only to the rear.
Are you in a rush ?
The fastest easiest route is the A82 out of Fort William to Inverness. Then A9 to A82 to Garve. Then A832 to Kinlochewe.
You can take a bit of a shortcut by Beauly. Your proposal is very easy.
Secondly for scenery on steeper roads some single track but with lots of passing places leave Fort William northbound on the A82 to Invergarry. Then
A 87 passing Lochs Gary , Clunie and Duich. At Auchertyre take the A890 to the junction with the A896. Turn right staying on the A890 to Achnasheen then left onto the A832 to Kinlochewe.
If you turn left instead of right take the A896 via the fantastic Glen Torridon to Kinlochewe.

All routes are easily achievable in one days relaxed towing.

I always come back from the west coast via the route you ask about from Drum past Kiltarlity to join the Beauly to Inverness road near Lovatt Bridge. I live near Beauly.
There is a sharp turn off the A831 onto the A833 and a steep hill straight away but I have always used this route with no problems. It saves you going into Inverness and out again, there are always traffic jams in Inverness.
The scenery is great and the road usually quiet.
Have a good trip.
