It's hard to beat viamichelin.com, you can set it up with your type of car and caravan it gives info along the route with loads of maps of all the main spots on route.

Ive not been to Sequoia Park, but been many times to sites South of Bordeaux. The most straight forward, particularly with Van in tow is to head from Caen down towards Rennes, Nantes and then Bordeaux until you come to the Signs for Royan around Saintes. There are a reasonable number of stops - though the section from Rennes to Nantes has few - and no fuel I seem to remember.

This is dual carriage/Auto route apart from about the last 50kms and is mainly toll free - the onlt peage is from Nantes south. IIRC it was about

The motorway from Rouen to Le Mans is now open, we used it at the weeekend.

Caen down to Sees, pick up the new motorway and then just cruise new road all the way providing you don't mind paying the toll.

We spoke to a young caravanning couple with a four year old and two year old twins just south of Le Mans last week. They had missed out their planned stop on route from Dover as they had made such good time on their first trip abroad and had just come down the new A28 like us.

You can of course exclude toll roads on via michelin.
