Hi

I'm off to Dover in a few weeks, not to jump off to France, but to say at Dover Castle [in the holiday cottage, sorry!]

I used to drive coaches so I was up & down there all the time but I've been out of it for over 5 years now.

So i'm after your advice, Joining the motorway network at M6 Juct 10A whats the best route? M6, M42, M40 M25,south OR M6, M1, M25,north?

M6 Toll ?? Is it worth it from 10A. It'll be 8-9am as we hit the M6.

Whats going on with the roadworks on the bottom of the M1 these days?

Any advice will be most welcome

Cheers Gareth

Hi Keith.

Thats another option, I have done that from time to time but i've no idea how the traffic flows on the A14 or M11 these days.

I'll look at how the distance works out.

The A14 M11 route is a long way round compared to the M1 and the roadworks at Luton have now finished.

However there are now currently roadworks between the M25 J26 & J28.

My recommendation would be M40, M25, M26 then M20. Another bonus with going round the bottom of the M25 is that you save the

Thanks for that Zafiral. i always found the M40 to be a quieter route , you can duck down the A404 to the M4 if the bottom of the M40 is busy.

interesting you should say its a long way round the A14, Auto-route gives me, M1 318 Miles, M40, 327 Miles & A14 324 Miles so there's not much in it.

I also must consider where i can pick up LPG for the car.
