Having found a nice stop over in Epinal, France, a deposit of _8 is required. Whats the best way to pay a deposit? I have the campsite's French bank details on the resevation form it also states I can use visa, however it requires my security code, and I dont want to post/fax the reservation form with my visa details and personel details.

If you have the IBAN number and the BIC code you can get your bank to send the money to them. It is secure and will only cost you the transfer fee. The bank will buy the euros for you. Many EU institutions are now using bank transfer through IBAN instead of cheques and/or money orders.

I think if I were you I'd get a 10 euro note, and pop it into an envelope, and post it to them. If you're worried about the extra 2 euros ask them to keep the change until you arrive. It will cost you far less than paying the bank to transfer the money for you even if you don't get the 2 euros back.

I do the same as Val A. and post 100 euros deposit and send it recorded delivery which ensures it gets there safely. Have used this method for several years and never had a problem. I think 100 euros is the maximum you can send this way.

Yes, cheques and money orders have just about disappeared from the scene over here. I think I wrote my last cheque at about the same time as the Euro was introduced.

No disrespect to Eileen but sending 100 euros is a very expensive way to pay _8. The difference is _92 or about
