Hi,

Just returned from our first touring holiday ever with our caravan. Being "newbies" we were concerned about towing with my Jaguar S Type, but it handled our Bailey Ranger extremely well and returned 23 MPG on a trip to Yorkshire and back via Oxford and Derby on the way up and Warwick on the way back. We are looking to purchase a more suitable towing car next year, although we were quite happy with the whole experience.

We got setting up and packing up down to a fine art and really enjoyed the week away, although having read the previous post on an overturned Caravan my worries about towing have returned a little! We are off to Charmouth in two weeks however, but I will make sure I have thoroughly checked the noseweight, which I had at 70Kg for the journey to Yorkshire and that seemed fine.

Still, 23 mpg for a 3 litre Jag when towing can't be bad?

Regards,

John A

Hi John.

You got a good MPG out of your Jag. I wouldn't bother to change the car to a specific caravan tower, unless your using the van every weekend. The comfort of using your Jag daily would be lost.

I ususlly say "if it ain't broke, why fix it".
