big problem towing with vauxhall omega2.2tdi cdx saloon

just got back from first outing towing our caravan(compass amazon534). the car was towing fantastically well until,whilst overtaking a HGV,i changed down to fourth gear. suddenly it lost all power,the emissions light came on and i managed to pull over.when i re- started the car it was fine.this happened four more times on our journey (wigan to taunton),every time the engine was put under pressure it lost all power, then started again as if nothing had happened.it cruised fine on the flat and uphill but if you changed down when losing momentum on would come the emmisions light and it would lose all power.Before i cough up at the garage, has anyone got any idea why this is happening?
 
Hi Dave,Take your car to a proper Vauxhall dealer and get them to get your engine management looked at(they should re-boot it)I had the same problem and thats what they did to our car.Jim
