bike rack for Disabled transporter van

Can anyone help please. We have a disabled transporter van the one with the taillift at the back. At present we tow an Swift Challenger 530 caravan. The trouble is we now carry in the caravan 2 bikes but now want a bike rack that we can put the bikes onto not the ones that attach at the back but more like the roof ones. We know its going to be high but would like any info on this like if anyone else carries bikes at this height and if it is in fact safe to do so etc. Your help would be gratefully received. Erica. Also can anyone tell us where to purchase these racks from please.

The Bike Carriers you are talking about are the Roof Mounted ones. Halfords sell Thule and Mont Blanc, along with their own name branded equivilent. The only problem I think you may encounter, is getting the relevant Roof Bars to suit your Transporter. If you could give me more details as to which transporter you have, I will look at the various websites available and offer advice,

Erica, I should have added that I carry two Mountain Bikes on the roof of my Renault Espace and have no problems other than getting them up there in the first place, I'm 5'5" and use the two tread caravan step,

thanks Happy-lappy, info you asked for on transporter. Its a Y reg. long wheelbase transporter by Volkswagen. special addition Versa with electric tail= lift. Front wheel drive. We have spoke to Volkswagen and been told we can load bikes on the back and pull our caravan safely but hubby wants put them on the transporter roof. Any advise welcome. Erica.
