Hi Kerry

try filling a bucket with milten fluid diluted to flush the little bits out or you might have to do it twice or so the flush it out again with clean water that should do the trick and then do it at the begining of the season and at the end then that will keep them clean.Ian.L

If you do not wish to have the taste that milton can leave then use a product like kemdirect descaler and pipe cleaner.

No taste, no smell and will descale as well as clean so your pipes will be cleaned 100%.

Hello Kerry,

If tha black bits are hard are almost certainly from an inline carbon filter. Eventually and if the filter has not been changed regularly, (recommendations seem to suggest once per season) some of teh carbon particals can work thier way out and into the pipe work.

The old filter needs to be removed, If it is teh Carver Crystal system, teh clera plastic cap from teh cartrige can be snapped of the old filter, and replaced in the housing to seal teh system whilst you flush the pipes out with a couple of aquarolls of fresh water to remove any remaining crystals.

replace the cartridge with a fresh one and you should be OK. a word or warning, do not try to over tighten teh new filter, as this can cause the housing to crack. The web of the filter cap should be vertical when correctly fitted.

Hi Kerry,

With many taps you can unscrew the perforated nozzle and blow through it to dislodge the carbon particles which are blocking it. You can get these bits coming through the system even after a brand new filter has been fitted.

Here, in Scotland, we don't have much need to filter the water so many caravanners remove the innards from the filter after a season or two and just retain the casing in situ.
