Black out blinds

Does any know how I can pep up the blinds on our Swift Challenger?

They have been closed all winter and some are a little reluctant to open.

I guess there must be a spring mechanism some where....?

Thanks

There is a spring in most, if not all of the roller blinds. It is simple to adjust but not easy to explain, at least I don't find it easy. Can I suggest having a look in your caravan handbook or if you don't have a copy try:

I found it under general maintenance in the Bailey handbook. I think most of the blinds as supplied to different makes of 'vans are the same so if it's not in the Swift handbook try the Bailey website.

Not sure whether this is always so, but on my vans the tensioning mechnism has always been in the top right hand corner looking from the inside of the blind. If you remove the screws holding this corner to the "wall" and take off the end cap piece you can introduce a short, flat bladed screwdriver into the slot at the end of the roller. Push down to "unlock" it and give it a couple of turns against the spring. release carefully and test. If too "springy" re-insert screwdiver and let the spring down a notch or two. If OK replace the screws and job done. Don't over tension as blind flying up out of control can do damage.

Hopefully other more experienced posters will confirm or modify this advice but it has always worked for me

We always understood you should never leave your blinds up or down, whichever way they go, for a length of time as they loose their memory. We leave our blinds down in the winter and pull the curtains instead and thus have no trouble.
