Black streaks

Getting rid of black streaks in the first place usually takes some elbow grease, as well as a decent cleaner, and might take a few goes depending how bad it is. The trick then is to keep the van clean - including the roof as that is where the dirt accumulates before being washed down the sides.
We use Onedrywash to clean the van as (apart from being easier than a long handled brush) it leaves a finish which makes subsequent cleaning easier.

Will agree with gjh that getting rid of black streaks can be hard work if they have been there a while and also agree with his point about keeping the van clean especially the roof. What I think is poor advise is the using of any waterless system DO NOT USE A WATERLESS WASH SYSTEM ON YOUR MOTORHOME. The paint on most motorhomes is very thin (some PVC excepted) and does not have any laquer coatings to protect it, so if using a waterless system you will be grinding dirt into the paintwork. Scratches may not be evident but they will be there and will make keeping the van clean that much harder. The thing to remember when cleaning your motorhome is us plenty of water.

That's in direct contrast to our experience Mike. We used Onedrywash on our Autoquest before it was Asda-d and have used it on our Burstner since we bought it getting on for two years ago.
If cleaning a very dirty van I would agree that getting the thick off would be better with soap and water. Also probably better for those who only clean their vans once or twice a year.
We clean our van much more often so don't allow the build up of dirt. We also use several pairs of microfibre cloths so that we are not treating any area with a cloth which is full of muck. In our experience, the job is easier and quicker with Onedrywash and the more it is used the better because the coating left makes subsequent claning easier.

When we had a caravan we used to blame the awning rail alloy (whatever) for making the marks! and inserted a awning strip thing that you can buy to stop the water running directly onto the van!! there is uaually a sorce of this staining !! apart from that O.H used to use Mer if I remember rightly, we dont have the trouble now with out pale blue PVC.
