Blade type stabiliser

I have just refurbished my stabiliser. Its the leaf spring blade type that fits into a slot under the towball, and the other end into a slot on the A frame.

Ive cleaned the surfaces of the friction plates and have tightened it all back up again.

My question is how much do i tighten it by?

Im sure i read somewhere that the easiet way was to fit the bar in place and sandwich some bathroom scales between the blade and your legs. Press against the bar until it takes 35-40kg of pressure before the bar moves. Thats how ive adjusted it but it seems very tight and only just moveable by hand. Will the van be able to turn behind the car ok?

If you go to the Bulldog website you can get the info from there.
I had the same problem but have lost the paperwork I printed out.
They state that the bathroom scales method is OK but I can not remember the setting

found it, thanks. Mine is quite old, hence the refurb and no idea if it is an actuall bulldog brand but the construction is the same.

It does mention the method of adjustment is via bathroom scales, set at 27kg of pressure.
