My brother in law's van has the blow heating pipe running outside of the van to the toilet. We intend to go away for new year, and wondered if he should lagg the pipe to keep the heat? Hope this makes sense!!

Yvonne, on our last van it had heating pipe running under the van for the loo, and it never really got hot air going through to the loo it was always just worm in winter. Our new van has it under the bed to the loo and this week whilst away in the cold but lovely weather the loo was the wormest place in the van.

What we used to do was to leave the doo ajar to let the air circulate.

As for lagging the pipe it would need to be waterproof as it is under the van. Id say leave it and see how you get on, we really never felt it was a problem

Its common practice to run under the floor to the front of vans with the door in front of the axle.

You can insulate but ours isn't insulated appart from the waterproof cover and heater performance is very good

On the back of the Truma heater behind the fire there is a lever that can be turned to direct heat to the front or rear pipe.

Hi

I had the same problem with a Burstner. My dealer fitted a purpose built Truma supplied waterproof and insulated pipe. This improved the heating.

The interior thermostat was also moved as one of the blowers was opposite the factory fitted thermostat which kept cutting out the hot air.
