blowing a fuse

Hi wondering if anyone can help, i have a 2000 coachman amara 520/4 .. every time i put the kettle on240v and toster 240v it trips the main board .. it seems to trip very easy , before i get somone to look at the eletrics, any advise please..... cheers

Kevin, simple answer is do not use kettle and toaster at the same time!!

What else do you have running on electric at the same time? water heater? space heating? fan heater?

Make sure you are using a low wattage kettle & toaster designed for caravans and not ones used at home, as they are approx 3 times the wattage and therefore use approx 3 times the amperage.

Kevin,

If your kettle is 2kw and your toaster is also 2kw thats a requirement of approx 16.7amps to run both at the same time.

I.e 4000/240v = 16.66666amps, even more if the sites electric supply is 230 or 220v. CC site supply is 15amps but a lot of other sites are only 10amps and some only 5amps. Your breaker is probable only 10-13 amps so again the maths say don't use both at the same time. Make a brew, then do your toast or use gas for one or tother🙂
