Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with our heating system - it's blowing cold air out. Works fine when running on gas but not on electric. We tried changing fuses and switching it on and off many, many times haha. Any ideas, anyone ...

Is it switched on at the main panel?. There is a switch for ours labelled space heater in the wardrobe on a panel next to the car/van selector switch, the battery charger switch, and the water heater switch.
Please be advised that I am not trying to insult you with the 'Is it switched on?' suggestion. I just know that when things don't work on our van, then 8 times out of 10 it is because we have forgotten something really basic. However most people aren't as stupid as us.
I'm sure someone will come along with a sensible technical suggestion soon.

Thanks, I've just picked us this thread from another site and done that. Apparently there is a reset button on the back of the fire, will give this a shot, fingers crossed!
What year is the van? there are three 2000 models!!
The 2000 Fanmaster manual on my website only refers to the later 1998-2000 model, normally this one has a slide switch control on the top of the fire front, other than that download the Fanmaster mk1 manual.
No button to reset on the later one either, if it does trip out then you need to switch it off at the mains switch and wait five minutes before switching back on.
Also check the 'kettle plug' mains connection on the back of the fire has not fell out? it's in top right hand corner and you'll need to feel right over the back for it.

when our blow heating is on (we have an Ace jubilee 2008), and when only electric is on it "appears" to blow cold, but in fact it is warm, but has to work hard to heat the entire van.(if vent in toilet is open, but door closed you can easily feel the heat in a very short space of time).but in an "open space" it is colder the further away from the fire that the vent is.
We normally boost it with gas for about 20 mins, then switch to elec, and it keeps us comfortable.
I personally think the gas is a far better job, and the elec is great for keeping a nice temp through-out the day/night, but not great for heating the van from cold on a bitter day.
For you info we were away in early march, with frost etc.

When you turn the fan on what setting do you use. On electric heating keep it down to about 2. You may find that you can increase to 3 but generally speaking above that it will blow cold air.

Thanks - it's a 1998. It doesn't have the slidey switch on the top. Will check out what you've suggested (funny, because hubby was doing a bit of 'DIY' with the drawer that had collapsed previously to the problem arising !!!) Brill advice - cheers

The SLP 3002 heater has a manual push button ignitor located at the opposite end of the heater grill to the gas valve control.
The first thing to ask you is do you have the instruction manual for the heater? This will tell you how to start it. If you hav'nt got the manual you should find a PDF copy here

Follow the instructions there, and see if that helps.
The other thing to consider is when was the heater last serviced? as the Carver Trumatic will ow be at least 15 yeas old, and despite being a pretty durable product, they do need some TLC sometimes.
