Blu-Tak Nightmare

Help! Any bright ideas for removing ground in blu-tak from seating material? Stop laughing, it's not funny!

Snigger, snigger....Who were you trying to stick to the seat?

Not sure if it will work but putting Ice on the area where chewing gum has been makes its removal much easier. Might work on blue tac!

I'd give it the same treatment as chewing gum.

If you can, put the material into a deep freeze overnight. The Blu Tack should go brittle allowing you to agitate the material and let the Blu Tack fall off.

If that doesn't work put fouldsy in the deep freeze.

Although I agree with the ice cube treatment, be very careful not to soak the area too much when it starts to melt. Ice can also burn your fingers.

When I get blue tac out of the packet it is often hard so I place it on a radiator to soften it up. Would a hot water bottle soften it enough to peel it off?

Long suffering wife of Fouldsy!

Have you tackled the Blutak yet?I Googled it yesterday and it is in the Bostick group.They have a contact us /and frequently asked questions.Might be an idea to ask them for help.For carpets they suggested a citrus based stain remover to soften and pull away.If you can take the covers off,it would make the job a lot easier.

I'm also wondering whether Sticky Stuff Remover might help.Let us know how you get on.

Thank you all for your helpful hints. I also had a quick look at their website and duly dispatched Fouldsy in search of a citrus based stain remover. He returned empty handed stating no such thing existed.

Yes Maureen I think I'm going to give the Sticky Stuff Remover a try. If that fails I will equip myself with ice cubes and lemon slices (for that citrus input) and give that a go.....or I might just pour myself a large G&T, add the ice and a slice and forget all about my tacky problem. The irony of it all is when I want it to do it's job and actually stick something to the wall it rarely works, but should I ever need to fasten a wall planner to a sofa I'll know exactly what to use!

Have you tried getting another chunk of Blu Tak really nice and malleable and then rolled it on the offending well and truly stuck stuff ?

You have to do this in many directions - and keep the rolling lump well softened .

That can sometimes work too

You're a life saver...they even have the citrus based stuff on there. The lemons for my G&T are safe, I will make a purchase and let you all know when the deed is done and just how successful it was!

Hi long suffering mrs foulds, I worked in the coach industry and came upon this problem especialy ( `scuse the spelling )when carring kids and found that a product called 'gum solve' remouved everything including blutack. Shame it didn't remove the kids!!!!!!!!
