I have just purchased a 7kg butane refill of calor gas and been charged £14.99, at the same time I purchased a 13kg butane refill from flowgas at £12.49. I asked the calor dealer why calor gas was so expensive, £2.50 more for almost half the gas compaired to flowgas, he said its because carvaners use it, the bottles fit into the gas lockers easyer. I spoke to flowgas and asked the price of their 7kg gas, they replied £10.41 for the refill, £15 one off deposit for the bottle. Guess were I will be going next time I need a refill.

You can find your local flowgas dealer from their webiste www.flowgas.co.uk

I too use it in preference to Calor; my local agent also delivers free.

Hi the main reason why calor is so expensive is because of a neat little cartelle between caravan dealers ,caravan sites and the 2 clubs CC/& C&CC. Have you ever seen any other gas stocked either on sites or by dealers ??

May be the new light weight bottles just brought out by BP will provide some competition ,but dont hold your breath . Lets face it for most of us the first time we consider gas is when we buy the caravan .If its new the dealer sells us ??[you got it Calor gas] and the adaptors .If you buy 2nd hand the adaptor is fitted and so you buy Calor gas .Easy isnt it cOLJAC

Don't you find it strange that in these days of monopoly commissions and Brittish Airways being hauled up for supposedly creating a cartel re fuel surcharges to passengers, that Calor does have such a hold over sites etc.

We recently changed from Flogas and Calor Gas to BP. The new plastic BP Gas Light fits in our tourer nicely and we've noticed a big difference in the nose weight. It was expensive -

not whishing to open old wounds I have 2 x 10 litre refillable cylinders yes they are expensive no I will proberly never get my money back, but they will be used for other jobs beside in the caravan. what suprised me was on my recent hols in france the number of Dutch vans that had the same kit, when asked about saftey I got a look of amazment and had to explain the problems as seen in the UK. they then asked me to supply examples of the problems we seem to have I had none to offer,

I would add if you should go down this life endangering route go for the smallest tanks there is no need to carry large amounts of gas as when one is empty you can easerly refill it.

more or less anywere in the EU. that in itself takes away a problem when away over the channel.
