Neil, I have a full size Bradcot with steel poles and a Portico Plus porch awning with alloy ones. Both were brought new and I can honestly say 'great awnings but the instructions are rubbish'. It was only because I was experienced that I managed it all ok, the instructions were generic and not specific enough. The porch awning instructions were for a full size one anyway.

I would be quite happy to send you the instructions, if you give me an email address. I will then contact you to get an address to send them to. Ray

Neil.

Great awning, we have a full list of instructions which I can either e-mail to you or photo copy and post, all I need is some details from yourself.

Carlton.

Folks,

Any chance you could email me a copy too, please? I've had a Bradcot Classic with no instructions for 2 seasons and have no problems getting it up (!), but have to help my mate, who's new to caravanning and has just bought one 2nd hand (again no instructions). He's one of those who learns by getting someone else to do the work, then forgets how to do it when we arrive at the next site! Maybe a set of instructions will help his memory.......email is jeff.prince@talk21.com.

Thanks!

Hi Neil - I have a Bradcot Portico XL with Easy Lightweight poles and on opening the bag found no instructions on how to erect. I found a diagram of the pole system and figured out everything else by trial and error ( and being left handed I find that you can be sure to put things the wrong way or inside out)

The first thing to before getting to the site is to set up the pole system in you garage and put different colour tapes on each poles i.e. yellow on the LH poles, Red on the Centre poles and black on the RH poles. Make sure you place the rubber rub strips on the top of each main pole.

I also have 2 Storm poles bought seperately which I use as "spare hands" when erecting begins.

at the site put down a ground sheet and place the poles in their positions flat on the ground.

starting at the RH end of the van enter the roof canvas into the awning rail and feed it carefully up and across the roof and out at the other end. I helps if you use a bit of furniture polish spray along the inside of the awning rail before feeding in the canvas.

Lift up the canvas and fit the 3 no. rail pads to the awning lower bead ,position the centre one in the centre of the van roof.

fit the hook of the centre roof pole into the eye of pad lift the leg and the canvas will rise and the canvas will look like the ridge of a ridge tent. at this stage use the 2 storm poles to stop the wife demanding a divorce.

you can then put up the RH or LH poles in the same manner and fit the outside crosspole to stabilise that side and the do the same to the other side.

At this stage zip in the doors and windows, then tension the poles and peg out using the rubber ladders

Bradcot do not have propietry storm fixings but if you want to use guy ropes you must not use the outside hooks but feed the cord to the main poles.

the awning when fully erected and pegged out is very good looking with the canvas and its fittings being of good quality.

each window/door allows 6/8 positions and it can also be fitted with Annexes to give more sleeping and/or storage space

Phew hope this assists
