Breaking System

Hi

I have a clunking sound on my caravan, which I have been informed that my breaking system needs sorting out (the damper?). My main concern was that the hitch lock turns around, which being new to caravaning wasn't sure if this was part of the problem or something else that needs looking at. Does anyone out there know about this problem? How serious is it? We are going on holiday soon and need to know how urgent it is!

Thanks

Vicky

Don't worry about your hitch head rotation, they are susposed to do this.

If you try to push the hitch in toward the caravan you should feel resistance but should be able to push it in slowly. It should return when you stop pushing.

If there is little or no resistance, then get the damper replaced or you will not have a comfortable ride when braking.

Hi Rod

Thanks for your message. This stop's me worrying! The reason I mentioned about the hitch moving was that our previous caravan hitch was solid, no movement at all! But the van was old and had been sat for sometime when we got it. So this is why my doubt came in with our current caravan.

With the damper not being repaired yet will the clunking damage the car in any way?
