Hi there

this may sound REALLY boring but if anyone has any bright ideas to pass on regarding bedding for the caravan, tell now...The double bed made up from single seats is an odd size, wondered how other manage without paying a fortune for custom made. Also, duvet or sleeping bags??

Cheers

Carole,

We first started with king size sleeping bags zipped together and I made an inner sheet myself to keep the bags clean.

Later we went on to use a duvet on top and found we much preferred this. Then just used the sleeping bag as a base.

As we now have a fixed bed it just stays made up like an ordinary bed.

When we used to make up a bed using many cushions (and even when we used the front seats as single beds), we never used sheets. We used sleeping bags but with a closed cell mat (Karrimat) between the sleeping bag and the upholstery. This prevented moisture from our bodies getting into the upholstery and it was much easier to air a sleeping bag.

When we had our two berths we always used the front seats as two singles, and always had kings size sleeping bags. We found it easier than making beds with sheets and duvets.

carol get a double fitted sheet and put stronger elastic in the corners If it does not work you still can use sheet in house

We use the 2 singles hubby in sleeping bag me a kingsize duvet folded in 3

When we used to make double up we had double quilt in kingsize cover for the base to allow tuck in And king size on top

but hubby found it a struggle clambering over to go to loo in night so we resorted to singles

Until we got our latest fixed bed model caravan we always used a summer weight (4.5 tog) duvet underneath (softer than a flat sheet) with, depending on the time of year, a 10.5 tog or 13 tog double quilt on top.

Smart move, the double quilt in kingsize cover, reckon I'll be doing the clambering though!!!! Thanks for the tip.

Hi,

Just like Maureen, we use a single sleeping bag, unzipped and opened out as a base, with a fairly light duvet on top, no sheets

Hi

We bought one of those 'combination' duvets - one thin & one thick poppered together. We use one under & the other one over depending on the temperature. (never been away cold enough to need both stuck together!!). Down side is 2 duvet covers for washing!!
