Can anyone tell me if they have visited this site and what it is like? I am particularly interested to hear if there is a 'dog walk'. There isn't a mention of one in the CC Site Book, as far as I can see. Thanks for your help.

Thanks everyone and, sorry! I had an 'age' moment and incorrectly named the site. Mike is correct - I should have put Broadlands.

We are interested in visiting this site but, looking at the CC Site Book there is no mention of a dog walk - very important for my little mut!

Thanks for any info you can give.

Broadlands

Have no dog but from memory there is a dog walk, also lanes not far away.

Road between Ludham and Horning quite busy but if you obtain a Broads OS Map you can soon get to adjacent smaller roads and lanes. River Ant only about 100 yards away although only limited walking there. How Hill not far. Booklet available ?7 walks round Ludham. Shop nearly opposite site also at Ludham, Butchers in Ludham, Fruit and veg stall just along the road from site, even had local strawberries in October. Wardens v nice. We cycle from site to other villages and coast at Sea Palling/Happisburgh. Park and Ride for Norwich a few miles away. Gt Yarmouth for the children also not far. Walks round the broads and rivers nearby. Anything else just ask.

Ann, we love Broadlands and this part of Norfolk. My wife and I are volunteers for the club on this site. There is a very short dog walk on site. There is a booklet available as Mike said 7 walks around Ludham. You can walk alongside the river as far as How Hill (about 2 miles) or along the lanes to the remains of St Benett's Abbey (also 2 miles). We often walk into Ludham via a permissive footpath that follows the main road, stop at the pub for a drink, and then return via the quiet lanes to the site (round trip of about 2.5 miles.) The toilet block is being refurbished and a TV booster system installed. There are many pubs in the area for food and all pretty good. Our favourite though is Wayfarers just up the road by the bridge. For a dog friendly beach try Sea Palling (to the right of the slip way). For a comercial sea side resort Great Yarmouth, less comercial, and much better in my opinion Cromer. The best way to see this part of Norfolk though is by boat. A wild life guided trip (2-3hrs)is available from the boat yard at the bridge or you can hire your own. Anything more you would like to know just ask.

Hi Shiba, the nearest pub is the Dog Inn about 300yds from the site, they do midday and evening meals. Our favourite though is Wayfarers restaurant, 200 yds in the opposite direction from the site. A new manager took over here last year and the food is excellent. You may have to wait a while if it's busy as everything is cooked to order, but well worth the wait. There are lots of good pubs in the area but you will need to drive to the others. Hope this helps.

Broadlands Continued

Good Pub at Wayford Bridge an enjoyable cycle ride via another pub at Neatishead. We also picked rasberries and strawberries near at a Garden Centre at Wayford B for tea!!. Reurned via Stalham, Sutton and Catfield. Hickling 2 pubs and a Norfolk wildlife site I enjoy. Another cycle ride to Potter Heigham and Thurne( Windmill and Red Lion PH) Local fishing enjoyable and relaxing even if a few boats about. Will be there in June if you do not all book up first. Garden at Euston outstanding they say,(it has been on TV) still to go there.Plenty to do if you look around.
