Bunk Beds - Quilts or Sleeping Bags???

We have just returned from a week away in our Adria Altea 542DT which has a triple bunk bed layout.

I bought brand new quilts for the kids beds, but they seemed too hot and took up alot of room restricting the height on each bunk (if that makes sense). The bunks were really hard to make up every morning. I was just wondering what other people use on their bunk beds. Do you use sleeping bags?

I will always use mattress protectors (as the kids are still little and prevents accidents) and a fitted sheet but need something that is going to make life easier.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks

Our girls take their quilts from their beds. That way they always have either their lightweight summer quilts or their heavy winter ones. Its one of the few jobs they have when packing/unpacking the van.

we've opted for sleeping bags.

Fed up with cramming duvets into all too small storage spaces and trying to fit ill fitting sheets etc

We've got sleeping bags that are rated for spring / summer use and will take along some lightweight thermal blankets in spring and autumn to compensate when its colder. Best of all they now fit into the space where just 1 duvet was squashed into.
