Hi

Has anyone been to Bunree caravan club site ? We are going in mid August. It looks good on the web site . And off to Troutbeck in 3 weeks cant wait .

We were at Bunree a few years back, lovely site, but watch out for the midgies!

Hi Dougie

Bunree is in a beautiful location. If are lucky enough to get a Loch side pitch , just remember you are not allowed to erect any sort of awning. That's quite reasonable as it allows those pitches further back to enjoy the views too. Facilities are excellent and plenty to do and see.

Walk out of the site , cross the road and soon you will see the Four Seasons bar and restaurant. Good grub at reasonable prices.

Watch out for the midges . I was up there in september 2007 and they had virtually gone.

Troutbeck is ideal for walking and general Lake touring. Our dogs love it.

I've put a review with quite a few pics here Dougie.

To add to Dustys post, if you go to the Four Seasons there are excellent post guided walks near there, good if you have a dog because the dog walk at Bunree is poor.

We've been twice, June both times, and the midges were horrendous and I would think they'd be just as bad in August. Can't help you with Troutbeck ....

Great site, but as has been mentioned it can be "Midgie Hell"

You may be lucky and not encounter the little blighters but make sure you have plenty of the Avon SSS just in case.

Don't let this put you off, it's a stunning location.

Been up that way quite a lot over the years but never been to bunree. And as you all say the midgies can be hell.

I forgot to mention that just down the road from Bunree there is the Corran ferry across to Ardgour on the Ardgurtan peninsula. If you then drive down to Lochaline you can get a ferry over to Mull which is shorter than going from Oban hence it's cheaper.

Lovely site and the four seasons grub is very good. We wont go back as the weather last August was a total washout for the whols time we were there. At least the migies were kept to a minimum lol

we went via the Corran ferry across to Ardgour on the Ardgurtan peninsula, down to Lochaline, a very senic drive and there is a nice restuant at lochaline next to the shop whch was very good.
