Hi. Has anyone stayed at this site? Whats it like etc? Are the Euro pitches any good? We don't want to be crammed in on a muddy field as with some Haven parks. Many Thanks, Dan.

Dan,

I can confirm that this site is in Burnham-on-Sea and not Brean. It's just off Marine Drive and about a 15 min walk into the town centre.

I know this as I live in the area. I'm afraid I can't advise you on the site itself as I have never stayed there.

Mark.

Dan,

The park is on the southern side of the town between where the River Brue meets the Severn Estuary and the town centre. It is a large site (like most Haven ones I guess...).

On it's Western side the park is right on the esplanade. The town centre is to the North and only a short walk away. The park is pretty much surrounded by housing developments on the other sides. It is pretty much self enclosed and you wouldn't really know where you were once inside the park. Take a look at Google Earth or Virtual Earth this will give you a better idea of the location of the park.

Burnham-on-Sea itself is a relatively small seaside town. I guess it depends on what you want out of a holiday. The beach is not great as it's in the severn estuary. However there are numerous other attractions in the local area and Somerset. Take a look at Burnham-on-Sea.com, this may help. Weston-super-Mare is 15 mins drive to the North and is a larger seaside town with more shops etc. Brean is between Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare and is where most of the holiday parks are in the area.

Hope this helps.

Mark.

The beaches at Brean are pretty good and the water can be much warmer there than places further down the Bristol Channel or Devon/Cornwall, it has surprised me a couple of times.

One warning - it is very easy to get sunburnt around this area, I thinkit has something to do with the offshore breeze.

I do not know about Burnham but at the sites in Brean try to get a pitch where the awning faces away from the sea, that offshore breeze can make it a pig to put them up otherwise.

I stayed at this site 2 years ago the touring site itself is very close to all the amenities closer than most of the static caravans theres loads to do onsite good entertainment and fab pools indoor and out there are places to eat and a takeaway, also nice walks around the site and the beachfront is a short stroll from the tourers i dont think you will be disappointed but peoples tastes are different but it is not a muddy field far from it after all it is a haven site

Garry,

Getting Sunburnt has nothing to do with the sea breeze, it is caused by the ultra-violet rays created by the sun itself that makes you burn.

The sea breeze itself just makes the local cider go to your head quicker, where you then fall asleep in the sun and wake up regreting it (getting sunburnt not drunk).

No Rallies booked until Grange Court, Goodrington, might see you there,

best regards, Martin

I was referring to the breeze itself cooling you and removing the warning signs of feeling hot, tingling etc.

Drinking cider is a very good way of getting sunburnt and applying vinegar is a very good way of easing that sunburn so you may even find that if you manage to spill some cider all over yourself you could be OK - I won't be the first (or latest) to try it though.

We are at the CNY rally in a couple of weeks, we have not booked anything around easter yet as we are planning a Florida trip for then and have not pinned down dates yet.

Garry, you most be loaded taking the caravan to Florida, I find it expensive taking the van to France.

As for spilling cider, I refer to this as dribbling and is quite a common thing to do (along with slurring) after about 8 pints, so one should not feel too embarrassed if it happens.

best regards, Martin

Hi Dan / Paula

We stayed there last summer for a couple of nights en-route to Devon. Can't comment on a euro pitch but where we were was ok. First pitch they tried to put us on was too small (we have a 6berth ta)and we couldn't put up our awning but they managed to move us. Pool & entertainment good and a good amusement arcade with ten pin bowling for the kids. Food was pretty good too. We'd stayed at Home Farm at Edithmead a couple of times but felt their entertainment had gone down hill. All in all we had a good time and would probably go back. Hope this helps. Ashley
