Hi Dan & Paula

We've got the Cadac Eazi-Chef Delux Combo....great bit of kit. More metal bits than a boys-own-bumper-meccano-set.

We like it because it collapses down into two bags. The actual base/legs of the BBQ fold up and fit into a very small bag.

The variety of grilling options is really quite phenomenal. Griddle, wok, grill, hot plate, oven..... we've not actually managed to use them all yet!

So although we've not got the other Cadac - we'd certainly recommend the Eazi-Chef.

Shop around too - there are some great offers out there.

Enjoy.

we ve got the carry chef very pleased we wanted the tray to pop cooking bits on as i have a bad back and didnt want to keep picking things off the floor. We use a small table anyway so either would have done The cooking is the same whichever and i also thought the carry chef looked a little bit more stable but whichever you have i think you will be pleased. We have done stirfries and curries outside which would have made a mess /smell in van and we give it a spray with fairy and leave it a while before we wash it,also you can buy bits separatly if you damage or lose any.The ignition electrode got greasy and is difficult to get out so I drilled a hole when it was out of warranty to get screw out without dismantling everything and clean it with oven cleaner.

Hi again

Cleaning your Cadac would be difficult if you've only got the 'van sink to work with.

I always take mine to the site sinks and 5 mins later, it's as good as new. As it's all enamalled or non-stick, it washes beautifully. But because of the size, it's a little unwieldy in the 'van sink.

I'd still buy another.

I think it's the Eazi Chef that I've got. Damn thing keeps blowing out in the wind. No matter where I place the windbreak, the wind direction always changes halfway through and blows it out. Don't they have wind in South Africa?

I too have the same problem as Fred - means I have to stand by the thing all the time and peering through the side holes to look for flame, or I just press the ignition a few times every minute!

VERY ANNOYING.

the above makes more sense without the word "unless" and the second "have" that crept in there somewhere :S

To clean ours, we fill up the disc with water and squirt in some fairy liquid and then turn it on and let it simmer for awhile. We then leave it to coool down and then give it a gentle rub with soft sponge type scourer. When finished, all you do is tip the water away and every one is happy and you have a nice clean disc ready for the next BBQ.

Actually you can do exactly the same thing using any old plough disc with a fire underneath as that is where the idea came from. When we were desperate we used to use a shovel to cook the food as we always had a shovel with us.

An essential bit of kit (either model) in my opinion. We have been away with kids for two weeks in the past and cooked every meal on it. From bacon and eggs in the morning to curry and stir frys for dinner. Would not be without one.

Thanks Yorkie. I'll take a look at that. I just thought you would only have to clean the top plate on a Cadac but then where does the fat go? The reason I'm changing from a George Foreman is for easier cleaning purposes. The george Foreman is too bulky and numb to carry to the pot wash after every use.
