Tried to get two bottles of the new Calor Lite today.

My local stockest say will not be available till April May and even then stock will be very limited.

Nothing like competition to improve on something the 6kg popane cylinder- which at 4.52kg is half the weight of the old steel model.

Also I have been told the new bottles feature a gas trac gauge to indicate when it is running low plus comfortable moulded plastic carry-handles.

I think-Calor gas may be under estimating how many people will will be purhasing these new bottles.

Stephen,

I think Calor Gas will phase out the old Propane bottles when people exchange them for the new ones (or re-paint them Blue for Butane use), the only ones they will keep to re-use, will be the 13kg and above,

best regards, Martin

Calor probably know exactly what the demand for Calorlite propane cylinders will be - whether they'll cope is a different issue.

Every caravanner using 3.9/4.5/6.0/7.0 cylinders will probably want to change to Calorlite as they need refilling but many will be frustrated that Calor retailers, different to Calor dealers, are not obliged to change type/size of container.

Most sites and many caravan accessory shops are only Calor retailers, not Calor dealers.

Hopefully Calor gas will produce a bottle somewhere in between the 6kg and the 10 kg as the 6kg is a bit on the small size and the 10 kg too big to fit in the front locker.

Don't hold your breath, Ian. Another size under 10kg would be too close to 6kg, from Calor's point of view.

Just use two 6kg cylinders.

According to the Calor website, the new cyclinder will be available from March 2008 initially available from Calor Centres and Calor Gas Direct outlets.

I use calor 6kg propane, with a bulk head regulator, To use the BP lite definatley means a new pig tail as currently we have a steel braided screw in type, for BP lite it would need a clip on. So more deposits to pay and new hoses.

I personally will stick to Calor.

We are using the BP bottles and it has been great. We can see exactly how much gas we have and although tight for space our caravan dealer just put on a new clip connector. I understand about not buying new bottles if you already have Calor, but as we were starting from scratch and were camping the small BP bottle was perfect and as soon as we got the van the bigger bottle was fitted and I cant fault it. We have about 5 BP dealers close by so it makes getting a fresh bottle easy as well. I know one van dealer locally dropped Calor due to the profit margins he was on and the contract he had with them, he also said BP were better to deal with.

Yes I have Calor propane which would mean new pigtails.I went in depth on this at my present rate of gas usage it would have cost me 2 yrs of Calor usage.
