We visited Le Pressoir at the end of April this year intending to stay for 6 nights. I know it was low season and one shouldn't expect too much from sites but we found it rather disappointing. Unfortunately, when we visited the site had not really got going. No pool open, no restaurant open, only one loo block open (There were only 2 dutch couples on site so I suppose that's all they needed. The emplacements were overgrown and generally it looked like it needed a lot of TLC. But, if you like a quiet, rural, out of the way campsite then it would be perfect. Shopping, restaurants etc are a drive away.

Route-wise we left from Dunkirk, A16/A28 Autoroute staying o/n at Le Val de Trie, Moyenneville (Exit 3, A28) - Rouen, N15/N154 - Chartres, N10 - Tours o/n at Camping Les Rives du Cher(Exit 22 A10) Next Day N10 - Angouleme, D674/D21 - Petit Palais. Perhaps not the quickest of routes, although N154 & N10 roads are just as good as autoroutes & we did avoid a lot of toll charges. Details of campsites: www.campingcheque.co.uk and ACSI www.eurocampings.co.uk - best price for low season camping holidays.

PS We did a quick exit from Le Pressoir and in the end stayed at Domaine de La Barbane, 2km from Saint Emilion, which we found perfect out of season, Lake, fishing, all facilities open, shop etc & free courtesy car to St Emilion twice a day.
